Jasmyn Lawson is a native of Jackson, Michigan, who relocated with her mother to Atlanta, GA in 2009. She's a proud HBCU alum who majored in Theater and minored in Film & Visual Culture Arts at Spelman College. Following her graduation, she began a career in the media industry by moving to New York City and joining the prestigious NBCUniversal Page Program. After leaving NBC, Jasmyn went on to work for a digital agency specializing in social marketing campaigns for clients such as HBO, Cinemax, TBS, and Hulu. Before joining Netflix, Jasmyn was the Culture Editor at GIPHY, where she focused on making their library of GIFs an inclusive reflection of the world. In 2018, Jasmyn joined Netflix, helping to launch and oversee the editorial efforts for Strong Black Lead, the editorial vertical, which focuses on creating content that celebrates Black talent, Black creators, and the Black audience. Jasmyn, most recently, made a career change from marketing to creating original content for the network. As a manager on Netflix's Original Series team, she focuses on the development and production live-action comedy series. In her downtime, you can find her tweeting about Beyoncé, her favorite TV shows, interior design, and her shady but loveable English bulldog- Slim Thug.
